چکیده

For lack of empty radio bands, ultra-wideband (UWB) radio that allows the reuse of already occupied frequency bands is the only solution to accommodate new wireless data communication services. The recovery of the very short and extremely wideband wavelets used in UWB radio is not feasible. This is why noncoherent demodulation techniques have to be used. Introducing a general model for the noncoherent UWB modulation schemes the paper evaluates and compares the noise performances of the noncoherent pulse polarity modulation and the transmitted reference system. Closed-form expressions are given for the noise performance of both modulation schemes. Although the former requires a deterministic carrier, the TR system may use either deterministic or chaotic wavelets.

Noncoherent Uwb Impulse Radio and Fm-dcsk: What Makes Them Different

For lack of empty radio bands, ultrawideband (UWB) radio system allowing reuse of already occupied frequency bands is the only solution to accommodate new wireless data communication services. Two types of UWB carriers are considered here, the frequency-shifted Gaussian pulse and chaotic signal with FM-DCSK modulation. A generalized model of transmitted reference systems is introduced first tha...

LR-WPAN and UWB data communication systems: A new possible application for chaotic carriers

Radio communications via channels already occupied by conventional telecommunication systems can be established only by Ultra-WideBand (UWB) radio where the spectrum of transmitted signal covers an ultra-wide frequency band. The power spectral density (psd) of transmitted UWB signal is extremely low and does not cause any noticeable interference in the conventional telecommunication systems. Th...

Ultrawideband Wireless Sensor Networks

Application of chaos in communications, in particular, wireless communications is actively investigated since 1990s [1–5]. Direct chaotic scheme of wireless communications employs chaotic radio pulses as information carriers. This scheme was proposed in 2000 [6–7]. At that time the first experiments were made with this scheme in 900–1000 MHz range. In 2001 investigation of UWB direct chaotic sy...

Chaotic Communications with Autocorrelation Receiver: Modeling, Theory and Performance Limits

Chaotic signals are ultra-wideband signals that can be generated with simple circuits in any frequency bands at arbitrary power level. The ultra-wideband property of chaotic carriers is beneficial in indoor and mobile applications where multipath propagation limits the attainable bit error rate. Another possible application is the ultra-wideband (UWB) radio, where the spectrum of transmitted si...

Impulse Wavelet versus Chaotic Carrier: Selection of Optimum Carrier for Uwb Radio

Data communications is going to wireless everywhere, from computer keyboard to Internet, from sensor networks to embedded systems. The spread of wireless communications is blocked by the fact that the radio channels have been already assigned to conventional communication systems and except a very few and crowded ISM bands there are no empty channels. Radio communications via channels already o...
